Petition to Chinese Legislature(居中)--大标题

We are requesting all animal protectors to state their name, email address, insert comments, and sign where indicated below.--

Protectors of animals wish for the immediate recovery of Phoenix sincerely. Thousands have already signed this petition

First Name
Last Name
Email
Comment
Sign Rewrite

注:把原来的Name Nickname建议改为First Name, Last name.

Note:
All fields are required.
No more than 20 characters in the comment section due to system limitations.
All information will be kept confidential and will not be used for other purposes.

比如说"Damn it!"

One lovely stray cat, Pang Pang, was almost burned to death by a resident in Beijing, China on Feb 20th, 2006. Please see the full story below(此处请用连接,连到下面凤凰的故事). After the disclosure of this abuse, the press published related reports. Tens of thousand animal protectors strongly condemned this inhumane behavior, and immediately donated substantial funds and food supplies. Volunteers named this precious animal Phoenix, hoping that it too will recover, just like phoenix's rebirth from the ashes.

Chinese government has postponed animal welfare legislation for many years, and should now give it attention to this severe situation. If you clear-headed, you would not allow this to continue.

We sincerely wish that, you, as a member of the global village and protectors of animals, will support our petition to the Chinese Legislature to enact and enforce animal welfare legislation. Please sign on this website, write down your blessings and forward this to your family and friends for the endangered animals, especially stray cats and dogs which have been slaughtered and abused continuously.

Thank you!

Cat found almost burned to death in Beijing, China

On Feb 20th, 2006, in Beijing, China, a cat was found almost burned to death. The cat, Pang Pang, which means chubby in English, was a beautiful long white haired cat. From the attached pictures people see Pang Pang scorched to dark brown. It's not possible to imagine how much Pang Pang has suffered.

Volunteers in local animal protection communities sent the cat to a veterinary hospital. Pang Pang as dying in a heavy smell of burned flesh permeated in the air. Some suggested euthanasia as it was almost a mission impossible to save Pang Pang's life. The responsible veterinarians have saved Pang Pang's life. Pang Pang has lost both ears and is still considered to be in a critical condition.

According to some volunteers, Pang Pang was a six-year-old homeless cat living in a residential area called MeiYuan in Fentai district, Beijing. Pang Pang was a loving cat and got along very well with local inhabitants. A lady named "just love cat" took care of homeless cats in that area. She said that she had fed Pang Pang since 2003. She also said that this was not the first time Pang Pang was tortured. Someone had put thumb tacks on Pang Pang's back several times. The lady also knew who did all these things to Pang Pang. He was a man who lived in the same area. He had performed the same cruel acts on other cats as well. He once killed a cat by hanging and placed the body on his windows for days. Later a policeman removed the body of the cat.

After this burning incident concerning Pang Pang, local television reporters interviewed that man. He seems to have nothing to apologize for, have no guilt for his actions and would show no mercy on other innocent cats. He even seems to have a much crueler attitude by stating that he would kill any cat in his sight.

As animal protection volunteers, we really can not understand such a callous and cruel person. We have tried to solve this issue and called for support from local media. We believe that beneath the unscrupulous brutality is the lack of reasonable animal protection legislation in China. This man dared to torture, burn and kill cats as he wished, only because he knows he would not get punished. He does not pay a price for his wicked deeds, thus he would never learn to respect the dignity of life.

The volunteers have now given Pang Pang a different name: Phoenix---a unique mythical bird of great beauty that burned itself to death, rose from its ashes in freshness of youth to live through another life cycle. We do hope the sad story will help those concerned authorities to legislate on behalf of animal protection.

China has been regarded with disgust by the majority of citizens in the Western World and ais due to cruel treatment of animals in general for a very long time.
