Mushki the cat: Three lives left

I'm beginning to believe that old "nine lives" myth about cats.

This here is an x-ray of Mushki, a four-year-old cat from Malabar, near Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach in Florida. Mushki was just hanging out peacefully in his own back yard late last week when someone shot him, six times.

The small-calibre bullets are still visible in the x-ray (some a bit hard to see against white backgrounds), but the astoinishing thing is that the cat is recovering already. The vet decided to leave the bullets inside rather than doing risky surgery.

The family has put up fliers that say: "Someone in Malabar is shooting domestic pets. Ours was shot yesterday near Hall Road. The sheriff has been notified and extra patrols are now being used."

The shooter, who fired three times into one side, twice into the other and once into the stomach, is still unknown and free.
